# ROBS Timeline

> How long does the ROBS process take from application to funded business?

The typical Nexus 401(k) process takes **2–4 weeks** from application submission to funded business, assuming the application is complete and the sending custodian processes the rollover on a standard timeline. Fast, straightforward cases can finish in 2–3 weeks; some cases take longer when a custodian, state filing, or additional documentation request slows the process.

## Timeline by Phase

| Phase                  | Duration                         | What's Happening                  |
| ---------------------- | -------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| Eligibility screening  | Minutes                          | Automated assessment              |
| Application completion | 1–3 days                         | At your pace - auto-saves         |
| Expert review | 1–3 business days | Compliance and application review |
| Entity formation | Several business days to 2 weeks | State filing, EIN |
| Plan documents         | 1–2 days                         | Automated generation              |
| Rollover transfer | 3–15+ business days | Depends on your custodian |
| Stock purchase         | 1–3 days                         | After funds arrive                |

**Total: 2–4 weeks typical**

## What Affects Timeline

### Fastest Scenarios (2–3 weeks)

* Application is complete and straightforward
* Retirement custodian processes rollovers quickly
* Delaware incorporation (fastest state filing)
* No additional information needed

### Slower Scenarios

* Retirement custodian has slow rollover processing
* Additional documentation requested during review
* Multiple retirement accounts rolling over from different custodians
* State filing delays (varies by jurisdiction)

## The Biggest Variable: Your Custodian

The single biggest factor in your timeline is how quickly your current retirement account custodian processes the rollover transfer. This is outside of Talcott Forge's control.

| Custodian Type | Typical Transfer Time |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------- |
| Major brokerages             | 3–5 business days     |
| Employer plan administrators | 5–10 business days    |
| Smaller custodians / TPAs    | 5–15+ business days   |

<Tip>
  You can help speed things up by contacting your custodian early to understand their rollover process and any forms they require.
